ROCK Wall Climbing

Download on Nexus Mods · Source code

Released on Nexus as ROCK (and wall) climbing. Grab a wall with either hand and pull yourself up, sideways, or around it. Use both hands to climb hand over hand, or release during a pull to push off with your climbing momentum.

Requirements and installation

Install Fallout 4 VR, F4SEVR, and ROCK with its requirements, including FRIK 0.79 / API 2.3 for current source. Install Wall Climbing through your mod manager and launch through F4SEVR.

Controls

  1. Touch a surface with usable collision and hold the grab button.
  2. Move your hand opposite the direction you want to travel.
  3. Release to let go, or use your other hand to continue climbing.

Press your normal jump control while holding near a reachable ledge to attempt a ledge jump. The hold releases only when a suitable ledge and clearance are found. Supported moving surfaces carry you while you hold on.

Configuration and known issues

Movement response and launch strength are configured under your Documents folder:

My Games/Fallout4VR/Mods_Config/ROCK_Wall_Climbing/ROCK_Wall_Climbing.ini

The release lists occasional surface clipping and weak upward pulls as known issues. If you clip into a surface, use the climbing controls to pull back out. Check the Nexus page for fixes and current limitations.

Credits

Bellbound's VR Climbing for Skyrim VR inspired this addon. The Nexus page includes the original project credits. ROCK Wall Climbing source is licensed under GPL-3.0-only.

Developer integration

Current climbing consumes ROCK Core callbacks, Hands and Grab observations, Touch Read + Write, Collision Read and PlayerController Read + Write. Surface ownership is scoped and leased; release observation and native jump admission remain separate contracts. The addon's native capsule-clearance work is internal implementation, not a public PlayerController penetration query. See Touch and PlayerController.
